Best Podcasts for Female Entrepreneurs on Their Business Journey

Best Podcasts for Female Entrepreneurs on Their Business Journey who want a high level website

The past 18 months of Covid life, I’ve watched way less TV than I ever have in my adult life. You’d think during a pandemic you’d be so bored you’d watch more, but not me. Maybe I’m the odd one out here?!

I found myself going out for walks in nature.

Reading in the evenings.

And listening to podcasts.

The surprising thing for me was that the podcasts I was listening to were…

Podcasts for Female Entrepreneurs all about Business and Marketing.

Go figure and I was loving them!

Why as an Entrepreneur should you listen to Podcasts?

When I was first starting my business I devoured all of the business books that I could, I networked with fellow female entrepreneurs at business events locally to me in London. Then I got onto podcasts.

Listening to podcasts can help new women business owners (like I was) find the inspiration, knowledge, and confidence they need to start and run a successful business.

When you’re an employee you’re an expert in your field, marketing may even be part of your job but if you are a service provider and you’re marketing yourself it can be a very different kettle of fish.

As a new entrepreneur most women (and men) don’t know a lot about marketing which is such an important skill to have when you have your own business.

For years I just relied on referrals as a website designer. I know this will always be a huge part of how I get work but it's only in recent times that I’ve understood the power of marketing. This has helped me grow my business exponentially.

I want that for you too!

It was only because of the pandemic that I got back into podcasts and rediscovered how great they were especially when you really connect with the hosts and love the episode topics.

So below I’ve listed out my top 7 favourites with a brief description for each one.

As for the descriptions… These aren’t just a standard blah blah this is what the podcast is about summary, though I do cover that too. It’s also about how I was introduced to that podcast, why I like the host - I want this post to feel as if your biz bestie is recommending you her fave shows because I do see us as biz besties, though we’ve never met in RL.

Let’s do this…

#7 Podcasts for Female Entrepreneurs to Listen to Right Now

Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place and Elizabeth Day’s How to Fail have always been on my list of firm faves in a more ‘life in general’ kind of way. But like this blog post title suggests, I’m going to share with you the following female led podcasts where they talk about their zone of genius - marketing.

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #1: The Goal Digger Podcast

One of the leading voices in online marketing for female entrepreneurs is Jenna Kutcher. Jenna got her degree in marketing at college (uni from us UK peeps) and went to work at Target, the dream job for a graduate. Corporate life didn’t suit her and she wanted an outlet for her creative energy so she started photographing weddings on the side, teaching herself photography having never done it before. She was hooked. She started getting booked up. In due time she quit her 9-5 to work on her wedding photog business full time.

What she saw happen was that whilst she was getting booked up, fellow photog friends weren’t even though they were super talented, so she started teaching them what she was doing to get booked up. She was a blog writing demon, she started building an email list, her social media, she was personable. Her marketing advice built and built to a point where that’s what she focuses solely on now, with courses and her world class The Goal Digger podcast.

This woman knows her shit! There is an abundance of episodes available, so whatever field of your marketing you’re wanting to be focusing on whether it be email marketing or growing your social or Pinterest traffic - she has an episode (or probs 10+) for ya!

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #2: The Inside Out Entrepreneur

My lovely biz bestie Sarah Henson told me about this podcast and the woman who runs it, Suzi Witt. Sarah is in a FB group where Suzi had shared an inspirational post about how she’d recently bought her dream home, Sarah felt inspired, checked out her podcast, loved it, sent the details to me, I loved it and now I really hope you’ll love it too. You’ll also hear Suzi talking about said dream house and the steps she took to land her dream place in one of her episodes.

Suzi is passionate about how being a successful entrepreneur starts from the “inside out” - hence the title, see what she did there?!?! haha. She herself says that she’s quite geeky and really gets into the science behind how things such as changing our morning habits can have a huge effect on our general happiness and productivity throughout the day.

Topics range from online marketing, niching down in your area, hiring help (VA’s etc), mindset work, email list building, membership sites - errrything!

I’ve done her Inside Out Morning Routine which made a huge difference to my day and productivity, I loved it! But my favourite episode is where she talks about how she manages her money and the different type of bank accounts she has for her business and personal finances - mind blown! I now have both Starling and Monzo accounts, which I use in a similar way though slightly different to suit my own needs.

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #3: The Breakthrough Brand Podcast

This has been my most recent favourite. I’ve really wanted to get more strategic in my marketing as a Squarespace website designer and in the past always relied upon referrals. I’m slowly looking to create and sell Squarespace Templates for service based female entrepreneurs, focusing on the coaching and wellness industries. To do this, I realise I’d need to build my email list and traffic to my website - Enter Elizabeth McCravy’s “The Breakthrough Brand Podcast”. Elizabeth is a veteran website designer who has transitioned into selling Templates AND loves loves marketing. As she’s someone who does exactly what I do, I knew she’d be a great person to learn from.

Don’t let the fact that she’s a website designer and that may not be your industry put you off. The marketing advice she shares is universal if your work is in the online world, plus she’s worked with a lot of similar clients to myself such as coaches and women interested in personal development - she caters to us all.

My fave episode from her and she’s said is one of her most downloaded epiodes is this … 7 Secrets to working smarter, not harder. I did do the thing she talks about with scheduling in her entire work week on a Sunday into her calendar and I don’t think I’ve ever been so productive!

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #4: The Heart & Hustle Podcast

Introducing Evie and Lindsey the co-hosts with an always sunny disposition. Both girls were wedding photographers who just like Jenna Kutcher, excelled in marketing. Not sure if you know this, but I’m also a photographer as well as a website designer so I love listening to podcasts where the hosts have a similar interest/industry as me, though of course it doesn’t matter but I find it sometimes helps if they talk about their niche in an episode or two. I learnt a great hack about photographing against a white backdrop, by using a white bedsheet hanged over a tree branch from them once over on their Insta account haha.

There are both solo episodes where the girls dive deep into marketing or self care tips as female entrepreneurs as well as carefully curated guest episodes with some juicy insight into how they nailed it in [insert marketing tip].

Finally I wanted to shout out a great resource they’ve created called, The Caption Playbook. It’s a great tool for those of you struggling to write engaging social media captions for your business. It’s a monthly membership where each month you get (20 I think?) captions that cover topics such as your business, self-care, how you got started, how you help your clients etc. It’s awesome! I’ve used a couple of them myself, I like to do a mix of my own but it’s always great to have something there for the times you get stuck and don’t know what to write, because it’s always your story - you just tailor it to you.

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #5: The Simply Smart Business Show

Gemma Went is the host of The Simply Smart Business show and is a really nice down to earth woman, I like her vibe! She’s a super successful business & mindset coach helping online entrepreneurs grow and scale online without burning out or selling out. What I like most about Gemma is that she may be one of the elusive 7 figure business owners but she doesn’t sugar coat it and make out like she did it in a hot minute, no! She talks about the fact the she sustainably built her business, slowly slowly, that these can take time. In a world full of online business owners forever talking about building their companies to 6 figures in less than 12/18 months, it’s a breath of fresh air. I get that people can be successful super quickly, but it can cause a lot of people anxiety, overwhelm and conparisonitus vibes which is no good to anyone. Gemma demystifies how to grow your business with clear and concise steps and she interviews some great people along the way to inspire you with their journeys too.

Finally, she’s fully embraced a more spiritual side of herself and been public about how she’s introducing a more spiritual element into her business after healing trauma from her past. I love how vulnerable she is about this. Go check out her podcast for all things business with a touch of spirituality.

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #6: She Means Business Podcast

So I kind of love Carrie Green, the host of this awesome podcast and the founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association, possibly one of the longest standing membership sites out there whose sole purpose is to help women starting out or looking to scale their very own business.

Carrie practiced law back in the day and set up her first business whilst studying. Along her journey she stopped working in her first business and started FEA - a place she needed and knew others did too. FEA is a place for community, for other women looking for biz friends, wanting to learn everything they need to know when starting a business.

Something I love about Carrie, is that she lives one town over from where I grew up (shout out us northerners!!!!) and she has a very real down to earth energy about her. You really can tell that she’s routing for you and everyone else. I feel she’s one of the most genuine women in this online space. You will learn sooo much from this podcast, I can’t wait for you to binge listen!!!

Female Entrepreneur Podcast #7: The Ambitious Introvert Podcast

Last but by no means least, **drumroll**… Emma Louise Parkes is a coach on a mission to help high-level introverts, empaths & HSPs create the strategy & mindset for massive success - all whilst staying energised.

I’ve not mentioned it with the others so much, but I really really love Emma’s Instagram account, she brings such great advice and it always feels soothing and kind, as in I never feel overwhelmed reading her posts thinking, oh gosh, another thing I need to do! haha.

I love how she takes her social content and curates it into more in-depth solo episodes from discussing what’s worked in her business per quarter to fun little tips for bringing self care into the every day to make your life that bit more enjoyable.

Mostly her show is comprised of expert guests who are either introverts themselves talking about how they’ve built successful businesses and managed to not burn out along the way or they have many introvert clients who they work with to help work alongside being an introvert rather than pushing against it.

I see myself as both an introvert and an extrovert and I have a lot of clients who are introverts, empaths who feel very vulnerable when it comes to becoming the face of their business and showing up on social media.

Part of being the face of your business is also about making sure that your website and Instagram account are cohesive, as in your website isn’t you being super super corporate glam when in reality, the everyday you is not like that - the version most people see you as. People will get confused about who the real you is and when people are confused, they don’t buy from you, simple!

You can Check out my episode where I appeared on Emma’s podcast talking about; Having a Cohesive Brand, which aired on the 29th March 2021.

I first heard about Steven through someone I follow on social recommending his book; Happy Sexy Millionaire which I got and LOVED. About a week after downloading it, one of my best friends who works in PR said that she was working with this guy called Steven Bartlett and was part of the team working on his podcast - don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to hear about one of my friends new clients. I love how these links can appear and I love hearing how great a guy he is and hard working. He had one of my all time fave female entrepreneurs ever on his podcast recently too, Holly Tucker, NotOnTheHighStreet founder - she’s amazing!

I’d love to know if you have any great business podcasts that you love and would like to share with everyone :) Pop it in the comments below…
