Squarespace Templates: Making Web Design for Female Entrepreneurs Easy

Now tell me that title didn’t sound good to you?! Right?

OK, cool me too!

As a website designer who’s worked with over a hundred women on their branding & websites, I know the important role your website plays in your business. It’s what showcases your expertise, builds know, trust and like factor AND most importantly, converts your readers into paying customers. This is done through showing your offers in a clear and concise way, clients sharing their experiences of working with you and having noticeable call to actions on how they can work with you / get in touch.

Squarespace templates make it easy for you to design a unique and easy-to-use website.

Benefits of Using Squarespace for Women-Owned Businesses

Squarespace is a website building platform known for creating slick, stylish and easy to use websites.

As a woman, I really appreciate great design.

I like things to look nice.

I like to dress nice when I’m meeting friends (obvs not right now as I’m writing this, I’m in my joggers and hoody) and I really like my working environment to be beautiful to inspire me and keep me feeling zen throughout the day.

I’m not saying that men don’t do this but I do think a large proportion of men don't really care about things looking ‘pretty’.

If I’m on a fellow females website looking to hire her services, I will be less inclined if her website is looking janky, not very professional (like she’s done it herself and badly) and isn’t slick.

Now when I say slick, I don’t mean it has to be the Prada of websites, just so that it looks well put together.

Unfortunately, we have less than 7 seconds to make a good impression and I want for you to make that great impression from the get go. And you can do that so much easier with a Squarespace website template.

What are Squarespace Templates and How Do They Work?

A Squarespace template (or in fact any website template) is the starting point of your business's website.

A template is usually created with a theme/business in mind, so that when someone looks at the template they can easily visualise their own business as the website.

For instance if you’re a coach, you’d look for a website template that had a homepage, about page, your offers page, testimonials page and contact page. The beauty with more detailed/niche template shops is that you can also find templates that cater more to your needs, they’ve thought of you when designing the websites. They’ll be more multiple service offer pages that are strategically designed with service providers in mind - for instance that’s what I do in my own template shop.

In the past year or two Squarespace have created a new version of their template system called 7.1 and I’m telling you as someone who has used both the old and later versions - 7.1 is the shit!!! Check out my blog here all about switching from 7.0 to the newer 7.1 version.

Seriously, it has made such a difference in showing my clients how to use their sites because now it’s even easier than ever to create a beautifully designed website that is easily editable.

7.1 offers the same functionalities across all of its templates unlike the old version where different templates did different things. So don’t fear that you can’t pick a particular design because it doesn't have (for example) a scheduling feature or a testimonials page with scrolling images.

See your template as a building block for which to build your website.

When you have your template chosen, keep the original design the same by replacing what is called the “demo” pages with your own content.

You’ll want to add pages, edit the current ones, but essentially you’ll want to keep the ‘soul’ of the template because that’s why you chose it in the first place.

Tips for Choosing the Best Squarespace Website Template for Your Business

How to Choose the Best Squarespace Templates for Female Entrepreneurs?

I’d always start with asking friends, so if you have any biz friends ask them if they recommend anyone.

Your next stop should be to think about all your fave competitors and look at the bottom of their websites to see who designed them. On every website I work on, I add in the bottom right hand corner in the footer, “Design by Elizabeth Ellery” which is clickable to my website.

I actually keep a list of websites I come across that I think look great for inspiration, you should start doing this too if you’re starting to think about getting a new website and you may not be quite ready. It’s always good to start getting some inspo in for when you are ready.

Google is your friend; simply google female entrepreneurial website designers or website designer templates for coaches or female website designer templates for [insert your profession]. It depends on what you find important in a website designer, so just make sure your wording reflects that.

I’m saying to look for designers first, as lots of website designers are starting to offer Squarespace website templates or you can just google straight away templates. Once you’ve found a couple that you like the look of, see what the examples are that other customers have recreated when they’ve bought the template and made it their own.

There should also be reviews from fellow customers like you, hopefully all raving.

I hope you’ve found this post helpful and are excited to get started with creating your new website using specially crafted Squarespace templates with you in mind, that is slightly more tailored to your specific niche.

You will find there are so many templates out there now that are specifically just for you, whether you’re a yoga teacher, a sound therapist or a coach - whatever it is they’ll be a template out there for you.

I am so excited for you and your next step in your journey.
